Condos added to downtown Margaritaville hotel

The developers of a Jimmy Buffett-branded Margaritaville hotel in downtown Nashville have added condos to their $78 million project.

There willbe 52 timeshare units in the forthcoming hotel in SoBro, at 425 Fifth Ave. S.Margaritaville Vacation Club by Wyndham Inc.will own the units, according to newly filed public records.

The 12-story hotel, which its developers have said isfully financed, stands out among the 4,000 hotel rooms proposed or under construction in SoBro because of its branding. A number of artists have emerged in recent months with their own bars and restaurants downtown, including Alan Jackson, Dierks Bentley, Blake Shelton, John Rich, Gavin DeGraw and Florida Georiga Line. Buffett, whose Margaritaville restaurant in Broadway's tourist district opened about seven years ago, is playing Bridgestone Arena on New Year's Eve.

Darby Campbell, who leads the hotel's Knoxville-based ownership group, said in a summer interview that the 217-room hotel would open in the second half of 2019. Construction is not yet underway. Through a spokeswoman, Campbell declined comment for this story.In that prior interview, Campbell said aStarbuckswill be among the hotel's retail tenants. The restaurant JWB Prime Steak and Seafood, another Buffett brand, will be located on the Fifth Avenue South side of the hotel. Campbell also said the SiriusXM station Radio Margaritaville will move its Nashville office into an all-glass broadcast center in the lobby.
