Singer Jimmy Buffett spawned an entire lifestyle out of his song "Margaritaville" creating an entire subculture known as Parrot Heads. As his fan base reaches retirement age, Buffett is planning "Margaritaville retirement communities." The first one, Latitude Margaritaville, will open in Daytona Beach, Florida. The community is for Parrotheads "55 and better" who are in search of an "active adult community." Other communities are also in the works.
Margaritaville Nashville Hotel, a 12-story hotel planned for the SoBro area, will include a casual-luxe restaurant, JWB Grill.
Inspired by Jimmy Buffett's lyrics and lifestyle, the hotel incorporates coastal elements with a covered portico, tropical plants, murals and large windows opening into the lobby, according to new renderings. The design also includes terrace seating at JWB Grille.
“Even before guests check in, they will experience a warm, fun and tropical vibe, being welcomed in true Margaritaville fashion,” said Darby Campbell, owner and president of Safe Harbor Development, the company developing the property. “When we open next year, this hotel will be the ultimate spot to kick back, relax, and enjoy Southern hospitality with a Margaritaville twist.”
The Margaritaville brand includes 11 lodging properties in the Southeast and Caribbean and has more than 30 locations being developed.
The Nashville hotel, located at 5th Avenue S. and Peabody Street, is expected to open in summer 2019. The 217-room property broke ground in December.
Nashville-based architectural firm ESa, The Design Poole and The McBride Company are working on the project's design and JE Dunn is leading construction.
The hotel is also expected to include a rooftop relaxation and entertainment area, a pool, sun deck, fire pits and FINS Beach Bar.
